Day-by-Day Journey

18-Day Tour Itinerary

Every day of the Parikrama is thoughtfully planned — balancing darshan, holy rituals, travel, meals, and rest so pilgrims arrive at each destination refreshed and spiritually present.

Depart from Mumbai or Pune. Long journey northward to the holy city of Ujjain — one of the seven Mukti-Kshetras of India and home to the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga.

Arrival in Ujjain. Seek blessings at the ancient Mahakaleshwar Temple and explore the spiritual heritage of this sacred city — Ram Ghat, Harsiddhi Temple, and Kal Bhairav. Overnight stay.

Explore Indore — the commercial and cultural heart of Madhya Pradesh — before proceeding to Omkareshwar, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas located at the confluence of the Narmada and Kaveri rivers. Overnight.

Omkareshwar Darshan and circumambulation of the Om-shaped island. The most important ritual of the tour: taking the Pradakshina Sankalp (sacred vow to complete the Parikrama) and performing Kumarika Pujan. Proceed to Barwani. Overnight.

Morning Holy Bath (Snan) in the Narmada at Rajghat. Visit the Ekmukhi Datta Temple established by the revered Tembe Swami Maharaj. Proceed to Rajpipla in Gujarat. Overnight stay.

Morning Kumbheshwar Darshan and blessings of Narmada Mai. The ritual Tat Parivartan (crossing of the riverbank) is performed via the historic Vimleshwar sea route, arriving at the sacred Mithitalai. Overnight.

Travel from Mithitalai to Garudeshwar — associated with Garud, the divine eagle vehicle of Vishnu. The Narmada flows particularly peacefully through this region. Overnight stay.

Pay homage at the sacred Samadhi of Tembe Swami and the Datta Temple before proceeding to Maheshwar — the ancient city of Holkar queen Ahilyabai Holkar, set dramatically on the Narmada. Overnight.

Visit the sacred Rewa Kund associated with Rani Roopmati, then explore Mandu — the city of joy — with its magnificent Mughal and pre-Mughal monuments. Return to Maheshwar for Rajrajeshwari Temple darshan and a tour of Ahilyabai's fort and palace. Overnight in Maheshwar.

Morning holy bath at Narmada Ghat and Datta Temple Darshan. Travel via Katkut to Nemawar — home to the Siddheshwar Temple — or Khategaon. The Narmada at Nemawar is considered especially sacred. Overnight.

Holy bath at Narmada Ghat and Siddheshwar Temple Darshan. Proceed to Bhedaghat — where the Narmada flows through a spectacular gorge of white marble cliffs. Overnight stay.

Visit the ancient Chausath Yogini Temple (circular temple with 64 Yogini idols) and witness the thundering Dhuandhar (smoke cascade) Waterfalls — one of the most spectacular sights on the Narmada. Proceed to Amarkantak, the source of the sacred river. Overnight.

Visit Kapildhara and Dugdhadhara — two sacred waterfalls near Amarkantak. Perform the deeply meaningful Oti Bharan ritual at the Ugamsthan (source/origin point) of the Narmada River — one of the most spiritually significant moments of the entire Parikrama. Overnight in Amarkantak.

Travel by small vehicle to visit Mai Ka Bagicha (garden of the Divine Mother), Gulbakavali, the Son-Nand confluence, and the ancient Shri Yantra Temple. Proceed to Narsinghpur for overnight stay.

Travel from Narsinghpur to Narmadapuram (formerly Hoshangabad) — a significant pilgrimage town along the Narmada banks in Madhya Pradesh. Overnight stay.

Holy Bath at the revered Sethani Ghat, Narmada Mai Temple Darshan and Pujan, and Shani Temple Darshan. A deeply devotional day in the heart of Narmadapuram. Overnight.

The sacred conclusion of the Parikrama vow. Return to Omkareshwar for the Sankalp Purti (completion of the sacred vow taken on Day 4) and Mamleshwar Darshan. Depart for Mumbai with blessings of Narmada Mai.

Arrival in Mumbai or Pune. The Narmada Parikrama is complete — the sacred vow fulfilled, the river honoured, and the blessings of Narmada Mai carried home. Tour concludes.
